While it is still an emerging art-form and production workflow, we’ve put together a list of five really cool music videos from around the world shot with the very popular Canon EOS 7D DSLR camera. We look forward to seeing what new ideas and possibilities emerge as these low-cost, high resolution cameras intersect with the ever-experimental and creative palette that music videos provide.
Prospect Hill – “Roller Coaster”
In a nod to Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil, this video for band Prospect Hill, shot entirely on a Canon EOS 7D with a 17-35mm f2.8 lens comprises one long steadicam shot. Awesome. Produced by David Kruta, directed by Chris Bolarinho and Jeff Melanson, DP/Steadicam – Jeff Melanson. For more info visit enkistudios.com
Karim Nazem
French rapper Karim Nazem – shot in and around Paris. Shot on Canon EOS 7D with a CANON 17x55mm 1:2.8 IS lens, color graded with Magic Bullet Looks Builder.
Victoria – What U Said
We liked the black and white approach to this softer video for a great track from Victoria.
cultureDef – “Chrysalis”
From Canadian band cultureDef – shot on a Canon EOS 7D and Panasonic GH1. See if you can figure out which shots come from which camera!
Enzyme Dynamite – “Love Is Like War”
Shot with the Canon 7D (Canon 50mm 1.4 and Tamron 28-80mm). We liked the throbbing post-production treatment for this one. Directed, shot, and edited by David Dutton
Ah heck, here’s one more. You’re a friend, we don’t mind tossing in an extra just for you.
Keram – “Dove Bone”
Shot on a Canon 7D with a Canon 50mm 1.4f and 28-135 3.6 kit lens. Color graded with Magic Bullet Mojo, and Sony Vegas Pro 9.0. Shot by Ben Cross and Keram Malicki-Sanchez.
